ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

ADHD is also sometimes known as hyperkinetic disorder. It is one of the most common of childhood onset behavioural problems.

Some of the signs shown in children and adults are:-
Unable to pay close attention to details or makes careless mistakes during work or play
Cannot concentrate on a task or loses attention
Seems oblivious to verbal instructions
Disorganised
Easily distracted
Forgetful
Unable to finish tasks even though they understand the instructions
Mislays the tools needed for a task e.g. books, pencils, pens
Feelings of restlessness in adults, excessive running and climbing in children, fidgeting
Excessive chatter
Inappropriate butting in when having a conversation
Cannot wait in turn or queue.

ADD or Attention Deficit Disorder

Has similar signs to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, but does not include the impulsive and demanding behavior or the fidgeting. Sufferers are unable to concentrate on the task in hand and often go from one task to another. Some of the side effects of the medications prescribed for both of these conditions are severe and could lead to further problems.

Sufferers are overloaded with sensory information, which they cannot deal with. As a result stress is a major factor in the way they see, react and deal with the world. These people do not learn from their past mistakes or experiences, very frustrating for their family and friends causing yet more stress.

Deal with Stress can help with these problems, by using Kinesiology techniques we can help with the stresses involved with these conditions. A first step is often looking at the retained Primitive Childhood Reflexes and using the Rhythmic Movement training work of Dr Harald Blomberg or some simple Brain Gym exercises or by using Stress Relief work from Wellness Kinesiology or Touch for Health.
